Trinity Bomb Site, New Mexico, 4/5/2014

I bid farewell to Coz and thanked him for his hospitality, and headed for the Trinity bomb site in NM, This is where the first atomic bomb was detonated on July 16, 1945.  The site is many miles inside a high-security military installation (White Sands Missile Base) several miles from Alamogordo, NM.  They open up one day a year for the general public to check out the site.  There was a long line and I had to wait about a half hour to get past the gate, and once I was on the base, there were soldiers posted every few yards all the way down the road to the site to make sure that nobody got off track.  No pictures were allowed until I arrived at the test site.  There were a number of people milling around, checking out the sites and taking pictures.  There were some little radioactive doodads on a table that were collected from around the area, and geiger counters next to them were going crazy.  There were big chunks of bomb parts sitting around.
