Northwest Territories, Canada, 5/21/2014

In the Northwest Territories...I couldn't get to Fort McPherson because the ferry was shut down, as there was too much ice on the river. So I turned around a few kilometers before the Peel River.

I stopped at a turnout to make a sandwich, and a truckload of indigenous people pulled up next to me and just kind of looked at me for a while.  It must have been quite a sight for them to see my tiny car with Texas plates...I'm sure little cars don't often traverse this road.  I rolled down my window to say hi, and they told me to "watch out for the bear that is marking his territory", and pointed to a pile of bear shit.
