Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel, Whittier, AK, 5/4/2014

The Anton Anderson Memorial tunnel. This is on the only road out of Whittier. It is only one lane, with train tracks on that lane, so traffic has to go one way, then the other way, and everybody has to wait when the train comes. I had to wait about half an hour before I could go through. It is the longest highway tunnel in North America and takes about six minutes to get through. There are a bunch of "safe houses" in the tunnel along the road, and if the alarm goes off, you are supposed to abandon your car and rush into a safe house.
